Preliminary program

A lot of pictures (chronological order)

The workshop will be focused on information theory for wireless networks. Wireless networks present some of the most difficult challenges to information theorists. At the same time, wireless applications in some form provide, worldwide, the strongest economic motivational factor for information theoretic research.

Topics

In order to take advantage of the workshop format and to bring together researchers with related and complementary expertise, we have selected the topics of ITW 2007 to be more closely interrelated and to be related to the area of wireless networks. We will focus on

Workshop format

The workshop will consist of a mixture of tutorials and invited and submitted talks. There will be approximately twenty invited talks, distributed over the workshop's focus areas. In addition, the program committee is currently selecting further papers for presentation among those submitted at the submission deadline.

Time

ITW'2007 will be held the week following ISIT 2007, which is organized in Nice, France (and also the week after ICC'2007), so that non-Europeans can profit from the relative proximity of Nice and Bergen. Moreover, this is an ideal time to visit Bergen and Norway.

Registration and accommodation

There is no convenient alternative accommodation. We believe that it is beneficial for the success of the workshop that participants stay in the same hotel. The lunches (a rich buffet, hot and cold dishes, desserts) are included in the workshop registration fee. We have negotiated a room rate that includes breakfast and dinner. Please reserve the room as part of the workshop registration.

A limited number of travel grants are available upon application.

We have reserved all available rooms in the hotel during the workshop period. Please observe that we will accept registrations on a first come, first served basis.

Registration fee: Includes workshop participation, proceedings (book and CD), five lunches, coffee breaks, and excursion.

Exchange rate

Hotel, hotel reservation, and rates: Solstrand Fjordhotell is a privately (4th generation) owned and operated hotel located by a small fjord about forty minutes by bus south of Bergen. There is a regular bus to the hotel from the airport. For a more exotic approach, you may catch the boat from the airport to Os, within a few taxi minutes from the hotel. From the center of Bergen, there is a regular bus to Os several times per day. Note that the hotel is locally known for having one of the better kitchens in the region. We expect that this can generate several hundred kilos of extra information theorists, unless the participants take advantage of the ample opportunities for recreation. Access to the hotel pool, spa and fitness department is included in the room rates.

Hotel rates for ITW participants, per person and per night:

Early arrivals: We have reserved a very small number of rooms at Solstrand from Saturday June 30, to Sunday July 1.

Registration procedure: Please complete this form, print it, sign it, and either

  1. fax it to ITW2007, att: Øyvind Ytrehus, Fax number +47 5558 4199 ----OR----

  2. scan it and send it by e-mail to oyvind@ii.uib.no

Important dates

Touristic information

We will not organize any pre- or post-workshop excursions. Since this is summer time, you may consider taking a vacation in Norway after the workshop. You can find information at this site.

Another ITW

This workshop will be one of two Information Theory Workshops sponsored by the IEEE Information Theory Society in 2007. The other one will take place in Lake Tahoe, California, in early September.
